Privacy policy

What we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have to control it.

Last updated: April 17, 2026

Effective date: April 17, 2026.

CableCanyon(“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the website at https://cablecanyon.comand related properties (collectively, the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have under United States and European data-protection law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”) and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

This privacy policy does not constitute legal advice. CableCanyon is reader-supported; we earn affiliate commissions. See our affiliate disclosure for detail on our commercial relationships.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Contact form submissions. When you email us or fill out a contact form, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Availability tool inputs. When you use our address-lookup or ZIP-code availability tools, you may enter a ZIP code, street address, or apartment number. We use that input to query provider availability APIs and to display plans you are eligible for.
  • Subscription inputs. If you opt in to an email newsletter or price-watch alert, we collect your email address and any preferences you set.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data. Like most websites, we automatically collect information about your device and how you interact with the Site: IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent, and clicks.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use first-party and third-party cookies, local storage, and pixel tags. See the “Cookies” section below for detail.
  • Call metadata. When you call a tracked phone number on the Site, our call-tracking partner Ringba and the connected call center log call metadata: the number dialed, the caller ID, the timestamp, the call duration, and the routing outcome. Calls may be recorded for quality and training purposes where permitted by law and disclosed at the start of the call.

2. How we use information

  • To operate and maintain the Site, including showing you relevant providers based on your ZIP code or address.
  • To respond to inquiries, corrections, and editorial feedback.
  • To measure traffic and improve content, design, and performance.
  • To attribute affiliate referrals so our partners can verify sales and pay commissions.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms of service.
  • To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful process, and enforce our rights.

Under GDPR, our lawful bases for processing are: your consent (for non-essential cookies and marketing email), performance of a contract (for services you have requested), our legitimate interests (for site analytics, fraud prevention, and affiliate attribution), and legal obligation (where applicable).

3. Advertising and analytics partners

We use the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Site-wide traffic analytics. We use IP anonymization where available.
  • Plausible Analytics. Privacy-focused analytics that does not use cookies or collect personal data.
  • Ringba. Call tracking, routing, and attribution for the phone numbers shown on the Site.
  • Affiliate networks. CJ Affiliate, Impact, FlexOffers, Amazon Associates, PALO, Astoria Company, Aragon Advertising, Marketcall, and Service Direct set attribution cookies or URL parameters to credit referrals.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Under the CCPA, however, the use of third-party cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered a “sale” or “share.” You can opt out at any time using the controls described below.

4. Cookies

We use three categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Functional. Required for basic Site operation, such as remembering your consent choices and your ZIP code between page views. These cannot be disabled via our consent banner.
  • Analytics. Help us measure Site usage so we can improve content and design (Google Analytics 4, Plausible).
  • Advertising / attribution. Allow our affiliate partners to credit referrals. These do not deliver display ads to you on other websites.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, reject non-essential cookies via our consent banner (where one is displayed), or use browser extensions to block specific trackers. Rejecting functional cookies may break features such as the availability tool.

5. Your rights under the CCPA

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right to know. You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the last 12 months.
  • Right to delete. You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. You may opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised a CCPA right.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cablecanyon.com with the subject line “CCPA Request.” We will verify your request and respond within 45 days as required by law.

6. Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights with respect to personal data we process about you:

  • Right of access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right of erasure (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Right to restriction of processing.
  • Right to data portability.
  • Right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including profiling.

7. Data retention

  • Contact form submissions and email correspondence are retained for 2 years from the date of last interaction, unless a longer period is required to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation.
  • Call recordings from tracked phone numbers are retained for 90 days by our call-tracking and call-center partners, after which they are deleted under their retention policies.
  • Affiliate attribution cookies expire on a network-by-network basis, typically between 1 and 45 days.

8. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at hello@cablecanyon.com.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal as an opt-out of sale or sharing under the CCPA. We also honor the browser-based Do Not Track (“DNT”) signal for analytics where technically feasible. No industry standard currently defines how DNT should be handled; we take the conservative position of disabling non-essential analytics when a DNT or GPC signal is present.

10. International data transfers

CableCanyon is based in the United States, and the servers that host the Site and process most analytics data are located in the United States. If you are accessing the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States. Where required for transfers from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent transfer mechanism.

11. Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect, including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
