Starlink Mini Residential hits US retail at $299 hardware
By Jordan Reyes ·
SpaceX expanded US retail availability for Starlink Mini Residential this week. The $299 one-time hardware cost is $50 cheaper than the standard residential dish, and the service fee sits at the same $120/mo for unlimited data with no contract.
Mini was originally a Roam-focused product aimed at RV and travel use. The new Residential SKU is a genuine primary-home option for addresses where the standard dish's size and mounting requirements are a problem, think apartments, HOA restrictions, or small-footprint installs where the 24 × 16-inch standard panel doesn't fit cleanly.
Performance trade-offs are real: Mini has a narrower field of view, which in our testing translated to 10-20% more obstructions in suburban tree cover and occasional micro-drops during peak hours. If you have the space for the standard dish, keep it. If you don't, Mini Residential finally makes Starlink a real option.
